Who you're dealing with
TheVoidCreates is a one-person laser engraving shop operating in Illinois, USA. When this document says "I" or "me", that's who you're dealing with. Contact: support@thevoidcreates.com.
Orders
Placing an order is an offer to buy, not a completed contract. I accept it when I confirm the order or send a proof. I may decline any order, and I'll refund you in full if I do.
Pricing and fees
- Patch prices are shown on each product page and may change over time.
- The design fee is charged once per design — $50 if you supply print-ready artwork, $100 if I create it. Reorders of an engraved design carry no design fee, however long it's been.
- A $20 correction fee covers a minor text change — a spelling fix, a small wording change. Anything beyond a text correction is a new design and carries the design fee again.
- If a correction is fixing my error, there's no charge.
- Prices are in USD and exclude shipping and any applicable tax.
Your artwork, and the promise you're making
When you send me artwork, you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it, and that engraving it won't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
This matters. If you send me a logo you don't have rights to and the owner comes after it, you agree to cover the cost of any claim that lands on me as a result. I have no way to verify what you send, so I have to rely on you.
I may decline any artwork at my discretion — including work I believe infringes someone's rights, or content that is hateful, threatening, or that I simply don't want coming off my laser. It's my shop. I'll refund you in full if I decline.
Who keeps what
Artwork you send me stays yours. That never changes. I use it to make your order and nothing else. I won't sell it, license it, or put it on someone else's patch.
The production file I build stays with me. I don't release source files. I keep that file on record, which is exactly why your reorders cost patch price only instead of paying a design fee every time. That retention is the thing that makes free reorders possible.
My designs stay mine
Every design I create is my intellectual property. That includes the Void Seekers series, every premade design in the shop, and any artwork I draw from scratch — whether I drew it for stock or drew it for you.
Buying a patch buys you the patch. Paying a design fee buys you the patches and the right to reorder them at patch cost. Neither transfers ownership of the artwork.
To be specific about what that rules out. You may not:
- resell, redistribute, or reproduce my designs, whether as patches or in any other form;
- have my designs manufactured by anyone else, or supply them to another maker;
- use my designs as your own brand, logo, trademark, or product line, or register them anywhere;
- claim authorship of them, or present them as designs you commissioned exclusive rights to;
- use them in print-on-demand, merchandise, or any commercial product of your own.
What you can absolutely do: buy as many as you like, put them on anything you own, give them away, and wear them anywhere. That's the whole point of making them.
Licensing my designs
If you want to use one of my designs on a product of your own, I am open to that. Licensing is a real conversation I am happy to have — a production run for your brand, one of my designs on your merchandise, or exclusive rights to something I have drawn.
Email support@thevoidcreates.com with what you have in mind and we will work out terms and a price that suit both of us. The answer is often yes. It just is not automatic, and it is not free.
I may show finished work in my portfolio or on social media. Tell me if your order is confidential and I won't.
Proofs
I send a proof before engraving. You approve it, then I make it. See the Refund and Replacement Policy for what approval means.
Turnaround
Most orders go out within the week, usually by that weekend. Premade patches in stock typically go out in three to seven days.
These are estimates, not commitments. I won't promise a date I haven't looked at first. If you're working to a deadline, tell me up front and I'll say straight away whether I can hit it. A deadline I haven't agreed to in writing isn't a deadline I've accepted.
Materials and variation
Patches are two-tone PU leather (leatherette), with hook and loop velcro or an iron-on backing. These are made by hand on a laser, one at a time. Expect small variation between pieces and between runs — grain, burn depth, and exact color can differ slightly. Colors on your screen will not match the material exactly.
Applying the iron-on is your side of the job. See the Refund and Replacement Policy.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, my total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses — missed events, lost profits, downstream costs — arising from a delay, defect, or anything else.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA.
Changes
I may update these terms. The version published when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
